Edward Scott now has a place to call home. He was shocked walking into his new apartment in the Bell Building for the first time. There was a microwave and toaster on the counter, dishes in the cabinet, silverware in the drawer, even a mop and broom. Upon seeing his furnished home, Edward said, “this was the nicest apartment I’ve ever had." Edward had been skipping around to different shelters for the past six years and this is the safest he’s felt -- some of the shelters where he has stayed in the past were not secure or comfortable.
NSO Board Member Stephanie Jones (pictured) representing The Links, Incorporated - Renaissance Chapter donated household items from our Welcome Home wish list to outfit two full apartments in the Bell Building. The Links has a long tradition of engaging in educational, civic, and inter-cultural activities in communities they serve. It’s vital to create and sustain thriving communities through activism and to have local organizations respond eagerly to the needs of their neighborhoods. Edward is now set up for success in adequate, safe housing with help from The Links and other donors. If you’d like to purchase Welcome Home wish list items to help residents transition comfortably into their home, contact NSO’s Corporate Development Team via email: [email protected] to learn more.
