Community of Hope
Though many Americans think homelessness will never happen to them, studies show that more than 50 percent of Americans live paycheck to paycheck, with minimal savings. That makes one out of two of our family members, co-workers, next-door neighbors, or even ourselves one paycheck away from sleeping in cars, abandoned buildings, or house-to-house. We will not get rid of homelessness overnight. Instead, we can impact homelessness so that no Metropolitan Detroiter will lack access to safe, stable, and secure housing.
To inspire hope for a brighter future without homelessness, the Neighborhood Service Organization (NSO), in collaboration with the City of Detroit and The Right Productions, Inc., will host this three-day inaugural Community of Hope event on July 28 – 30 designed to energize, inspire, and deliver community support and engagement solutions to the challenges of unhoused individuals and families in metropolitan Detroit.
This weekend of special events will commence with a two-dayConcert of Hopebenefit performance featuring Grammy award-winning artist Maxwell and Grammy nominated artist Tamia at The Aretha Franklin Amphitheatre. at 8 p.m., on July 28 - 29. The proceeds from the concerts will go towards addressing homelessness in Metro Detroit.
You can purchase tickets for the Concert of Hope featuring Maxwell at thearetha.com.
The Day of Hope will conclude the weekend events starting at 1 – 5 p.m., on Sunday, July 30, at Cass Park in downtown Detroit. This free-admission event will include a gospel concert. Plus, provide access to much-needed wraparound services and resources for unhoused people.
