1/28/2022

Noted executive and philanthropist Vivian Pickard is one of the area’s most accomplished businesswomen who has been widely recognized for her dedication to serving others. As one of NSO’s newest Board Members, Pickard brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her role.

1. What excites you most about being on the NSO Board of Directors?
The NSO organization provides critical services that make a difference in the lives of individuals that live in poverty. It's not only one service but many of the needed services. This sets NSO apart from many other organizations. I appreciate serving on the board of an organization that works to support all of the needs of the less fortunate.
2) What influenced you to join the NSO Board of Directors?
The mission of the organization is one that I believe in and support. However, I am very impressed with the continued great leadership of the organization and know that it continues to be led by an amazing visionary leader. It is an organization that truly allows individuals to serve as board members as opposed to board members/staff.
3) What is your favorite thing about the NSO?
The much-needed housing support is an extremely valuable basic need provided by NSO.
4) You have enjoyed an accomplished career as a Fortune 500 executive. What was your proudest moment?
My proudest moment in my previous career was the opportunity to provide scholarships to individuals that were the first in their family to attend college. It made a tremendous difference in the lives of many families. It helped to stop the line of poverty.
5) You serve on numerous boards and have made a difference through your philanthropic efforts. What is your mantra in giving back to the community?
I have been extremely blessed throughout my life to have received tremendous support and mentoring from so many individuals. I truly believe that "to whom much is given, much is expected." I grew up in a family that lived by this mantra, and I continue to live by it.
