MISSION STATEMENT

The mission of the Harper-Gratiot Multi-Service Center (HGMSC) is to provide comprehensive coordinated and accessible health and human services to the community.

NSO serves as core staff support for the Harper-Gratiot Multi-Service Center. The HGMSC brings the efforts and resources of several NSO programs, City of Detroit Health Department projects, and other service providers together in one convenient location.

SERVICES PROVIDED BY NSO:

  • Intake & Information/Referral
  • Utility Assistance
  • Emergency Food/Transportation Assistance
  • Crisis Intervention
  • Referrals for Chemical Dependency Treatment

NSO PROGRAMS INCLUDE:

Project GUIDE is a unique program for grandparents facing the unexpected challenge of raising their grandchildren.

Home Instruction for Parents of Preschool Youngsters (HIPPY) is an in-home program that seeks to help parents prepare their children for kindergarten. The two-year program begins when the child turns four on or before December 1st.

Basic Services include THAW (The Heat And Warmth) fund which provides utility assistance, emergency food gift certificates, and tax assistance (all seasonal programs); clothing (donated) and information/referrals to other service providers
